The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale that disappeared

An Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, with license plate LE152482 and chassis number 75033102, was sold in 2023 for 10 euros and then disappeared. But why? I'll tell you the story according to the former owner's criminal complaint and my own research.

Everyone knows and records the iconic Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale from the 1969 film Un Bellissimo Novembre. No woman has ever looked better than Gina Lollobrigida at that time.

When it came out, at the end of the '60s, the 33 Stradale was the fastest and most expensive car in the world, at 9,750,000 lire. Since then, it has only become more popular, and it's now worth 30 million euros.

The 33 Stradale with chassis number 75033102 and license plate LE152482 was Beppe Lucchini's in 1990, and he consented to its appearance in the documentary seen above. It was also featured in the book Fantastiche Alfa Romeo by L. Greggio and S. Bacchi. After that, probably in 1993 or before, Roberto Bersi, a Lombard industrialist, became the owner.

The car was seen in 2014 in a workshop near Vicenza, probably the Carrozzeria Lino Cazzola.

Bersi died in 2021. According to his widow, they had kept the car with a family friend and important figure in the collector car world, visiting it now and then. He came to the widow, still grieving, and told her that the car was sold in 1993 to a Frenchman. He showed her an invoice for the purported sale to a dealership in Marseille.

The widow asserted that couldn’t be the case; after all, the car had been registered in her husband’s name all these years, and the purported buyer had never picked up the car. Nonetheless, she says she was subject to months of psychological pressure and threats of lawsuits until she agreed to sell the car to the Frenchman for just 10 euros.

As soon as she signed, a company was created called “Fabre 33 società semplice”. The license plates were reported lost to the PRA on the 12th of June, 2023, a common tactic for car thieves, again by a Frenchman. After that, the car disappeared.
